The Political Parties of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, operate within the framework of a parliamentary democratic system. The head of government is the President who is elected by the AJK Legislative Assembly for a term of five years. The Prime Minister, who is appointed by the President, acts as the head of government and is responsible for running the day-to-day attachment of the territory.
